NEW AT PULP'S ART: MAY 25

PINOCCHIO by Massimiliano Frezzato
This new large-format collection features acclaimed Italian artist Massimiliano Frezzato (Keepers of the Maser) interpreting Carlo Collodi's 19th century masterpiece. In contrast to the plethora of previous cutesy adaptations, this edition juxtaposes Frezzato's wondrous art with French-language excerpts from the classic 1883 original.

LES TAROTS DES ORIGINES by Sergio Toppi
In 1987, legendary Italian cartoonist Sergio Toppi accepted a commission for a series of tarot cards. Picking primitive man as a defining theme, Toppi continued drawing along those lines long after the initial 56 cards were complete. Les Tarots des Origines features this phase of Toppi art in a limited-edition run of 1,500 copies.

IMPÉRATIVEMENT by Sergio Toppi
Impérativement presents black-and-white Toppi rough sketches alongside finished color versions. The contrasting comparisons lend insight into the evolving style and technique of the Italian master. A few of the illustrations are accompanied by brief texts (in Italian and French) written by Toppi himself.
